Festival Queens Pageant

Hello everyone, I am Rylee McDermott, your 2024 River Days Miss West. I am beyond thrilled to represent my school and community throughout the summer and River Days. I am the proud daughter of Seth and Erica McDermott and sister to Sydney McDermott. At my school, I am a member of the Portsmouth West Lady Senators Basketball and Golf teams, Key Club, Beta Club, FFA, and National Honors Society. I am also an active member of our Chamber Choir, advanced girls singing group PRIMA, student council, and prom committee. 

 

When choosing my platform, I wanted to choose a topic that I truly related to and wanted to make a difference with. When researching, I noticed that most ideas start from something negative. However, I have had a great life and have had positive experiences that outweigh the negatives. Of course, there have been bumps in the road but overall I have truly had a great school experience.  So I wanted to raise awareness and promote the positives.

 

In a world full of negativity, it’s time to blossom into a society of positive energy. Plant positivity is about spreading joy through the growth of planting flowers and creating handicapped accessible raised gardens throughout the community. I will be focusing on getting our youth more involved throughout our school and community and teaching them how to enjoy the little things in life. 

 

Overall, this is a truly amazing experience and I am beyond blessed to have been chosen to represent my amazing school and community. I can't thank my school, community, and sponsors enough for their love and support! Please keep an eye out for my upcoming events.
