Miss Glenwood - Haliegh Pace
Hey everyone! My name is Haliegh Pace and I am the proud representative for the New Boston Village and Glenwood High School as your 2024 Miss Glenwood.
I am the daughter of Eddie and Stacy Swords and have an older sister, Maddison Pace, who ran as Miss Glenwood in 2022. She had such a wonderful experience representing Glenwood High School that I wanted to follow in her footsteps and have the opportunity as well.
At the age of 13, I was diagnosed with Graves’ Disease and Hashimoto’s, which is why I want to dedicate my platform to bringing awareness to Thyroid Diseases. Did you know the thyroid, the butterfly shaped gland in your neck, is part of the endocrine system and releases hormones that affect metabolism, brain development, and bone maintenance? That is why it is so important to know signs and symptoms of thyroid diseases, as it can lead to a host of different health issues. My mission as Miss Glenwood is to bring awareness and knowledge to the signs, symptoms, causes, and ways to prevent Thyroid Disease through my platform, The Butterfly Effect.
Because exercising with Thyroid Disease has many benefits, my Community Service Event is going to be a 2-on-2 Basketball Tournament! All proceeds from the tournament will go to the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, which is where I receive my current treatments and care. More information on the tournament will be available soon, so stay tuned!
Thank you, Friends of Portsmouth for the River Days opportunity and platform, and of course, thank you to the New Boston Village and Glenwood High School for voting me as your Miss Glenwood 2024!
“We delight in the beauty of the butterfly, but rarely admit the changes it has gone through to achieve that beauty.” – Maya Angelou
