Miss Northwest - Makenna Butler

I am Makenna Butler, your 2025 Miss Northwest. I am the daughter of Brett and Amber Butler. I have two older brothers, Kyle Butler (22) and Kory Butler (20). I am an honors student, as well as a college credit plus student. I am a varsity cheerleader, a competitive dancer, and I also volunteer with the younger students at my dance studio. My extracurriculars have always played an important role in my life. I am extremely proud to represent the Mohawks and hope to make everyone proud!

My platform as Miss Northwest is titled “Eye See You,” where I will be raising awareness on hereditary eye diseases and the importance of early eye exams. I chose this platform because at fifteen months old I was diagnosed with amblyopia. This specific eye disease occurs when nerve pathways between the brain and the eye do not work together properly; the brain favors one eye. If this disease is caught at an early age, there is a possibility that treatment will be beneficial. I think it is essential for me to talk about this because I participate in multiple activities that take coordination. Even though I may not have depth perception, I still dance, cheer, tumble, drive, and maintain my grades. My goal is to let people know that you can still chase your dreams even with visual impairments.

The contestant with the most money turned in for People’s Choice this year will be awarded 1⁄2 of the amount of money she raised in the form of a scholarship!

The People's Choice Award will be announced during crowning.
