Miss Notre Dame - Layden Sallee

My name is Layden Sallee, and I will be representing my Titans of Notre Dame in the 2024 River Days Pageant. I am the daughter of Casey and Ronni Sallee and have two brothers, Myles and Liam Sallee. I am a part of the Varsity Cheer Squad, Key Club, Pep Club, and National Honors Society.

I have struggled with anxiety for as long as I can remember. My platform, “Faith Over Fear”, focuses on utilizing your faith to acknowledge God’s blessings to overcome anxiety. “Faith Over Fear” involves considering the situation, weighing the options, and understanding the danger, but then making the choice to fight through the fear and trust God anyway. It means pushing our fears to the side and replacing them with Faith. Faith in God is choosing to believe in his goodness: to believe in his desire to love, bless, and be in a relationship with us. If fear or anxiety is the nagging feeling that something bad is going to happen, faith is the confidence that something that we will hope for will come to pass, regardless of whether or not we can see it. At the most basic level, the decision to choose faith over fear is believing in the spiritual - that there are forces stronger than the world around us.

I started attending Notre Dame when I was three years old. The Notre Dame family is like no other. In the Notre Dame family, we celebrate each other’s successes and achievements, and even change each other to become better reflections of God. I want to gain skills in the pageant that allows me to be able to use my Catholic faith for good, speaking words of encouragement for others.
