Miss STEM Academy- Dylynn Timberlake
My name is Dylynn Timberlake and I am your 2024 Miss STEM Academy! I am so blessed and honored to be representing such a wonderful school! I am the daughter of Heather Timberlake-Evans and Caleb Evans. I am a big sister to my two little brothers, Jagger and Cash, along with my two bulldogs, Willow and Macie.
At Portsmouth STEM Academy, I am involved in our school’s “Fright Team”, helping put together and perform in our annual haunted house. I’m also a member of the STEM Workout Club, Adventure Club, and I help out with the school plays. Outside of school I am a member of the Portsmouth Area Children's Theatre (PACT) where I’ve been in 6 shows! I have also been participating in many community service events such as volunteering at Shawnee Family Health’s annual “Suicide Awareness 5k Walk/run”, as well as “ A United Family Christmas”, where I have helped over 500 kids affected by the opioid epidemic to receive a wonderful Christmas.
I am very passionate about my platform, “Ok, Hear Me Out”. As a Deaf/Hard of Hearing River Days Queen candidate, I hope to use this opportunity to spread awareness of deaf culture and educate local youth on American Sign Language. I created this platform as a way to be the representation and voice that I needed when I was younger. I will use my personal experiences to shine awareness on deafness—encouraging empathy and inclusion. My goal is for the younger generation of kids with hearing loss to know that they never alone.
To support my platform, I will be visiting all local libraries during their summer reading programs—teaching American Sign Language, building a community of inclusivity, and educating youth on Deaf culture.
Finally, I want to say, “Thank you!” to everyone who has supported me in this journey! I’m so grateful for each and every one of you. I would also like to wish the fellow contestants the best of luck. I’m so excited for us to be doing this together!
